dc.description.abstract ISM (Industrial, Scientific and Medical band) forms a part of the radio spectrum that can be used without a license in most of parts of the world. One of its most important unlicensed bands is the 2.5 GHz band (2500-2690 MHz frequency range), which is used for a number of diverse applications. Since antennas are the connecting devices in RF signals, between an electrical circuit and a propagating electromagnetic wave; therefore a high performance Microstrip Rectangular Patch Antenna is designed in view of all its advantages and multiple applications for the 2.5 GHz ISM band. Rectangular Patch Antennas have its own advantage of being light weight, mechanically rugged and inexpensive to manufacture. The antenna is designed according to our requirements for gain, directivity, impedance, polarization, bandwidth and beam width. The antenna is modeled and simulated in HFSS; from where the solution and radiation pattern are obtained. The antenna is fabricated on PCB and the results of parameters are in accordance with the simulation results. The conventional antenna gives us a loss of 17.88% which means a lesser antenna efficiency; whereas the antenna we designed, with changes in patch geometry, yields a loss of only 1.01%. Hence remarkably increased antenna efficiency is achieved. en_US
