Abstract:
Purpose:
This study aims at finding out the impact of organizational politics and its three antecedents’
(favoritism, unfair rewards and promotion and unfair management decisions) on employee
turnover intention in banking sector, Karachi. Favoritism, unfair rewards and promotion and
unfair management decisions are factors of organizational politics that leads to employee
turnover intention. Efforts were made to find out the importance of three antecedents which
influence employees towards organizational politics and turnover intention.
Methodology:
The research, being explanatory in nature, ensures quantitative data collected through a
questionnaire. Data was collected from a sample of 261 employees (male and female)
belonging to different departments of Karachi banks. To investigate and analyze data,
regression and correlation tests were applied.
Findings:
The results of this research have indicated significant impact of three antecedents of
organizational politics at banking industry. Favoritism, unfair rewards and promotion and
unfair management decision have strong negative influence on employee turnover intention.
Implications:
This study is considered quite beneficial for the banking industry in examining the influence
of organizational politics on employee turnover intention. Different sectors other than banking
industry may also benefit from the results of this study. The academic community may also
