Abstract:
The thesis discusses the integrated framework to design a simple and
economical EEG data acquisition system. The research has been divided into blocks
or components which when combined together deliver a system functionality. The
step by step hardware design has been conducted to detect raw EEG signals from the
brain scalp. In the coming chapters the respective portions have been explained with
their hardware schematics. By the end of the thesis, the reader gets convincing
knowledge and a platform to develop a simple EEG device which is cost effective and
this makes it fruitful for the reader. The reader will find an elaboration and theoratical
explanation of the key concepts that make up the whole project to start with. Initially
electrodes have been addressed in details. The thesis moves on with an understanding
of signal conditioning, later explains how to digitize data and send the data to the
computer. Lastly, application and usage of this data has been mentioned along with
supporting arguments.
