dc.description.abstract The objective of this research was to study the antecedents of project complexity. The researcher wanted to examine the factors that are contributing towards project complexity and which factors are mitigating the effect of other factors on project complexity. Focus of the research questions was to relate ambiguity and design & technology with project complexity and to find out if there was a connection to moderator variables. Process Hayes was used in SPSS to find out the interaction of moderators. A survey of 200 project managers, team leaders revealed that there was a statistically significant effect towards project complexity because design & technology adds to the project complexity and at the same time organization innovation buffers this effect on project complexity. Similarly ambiguity adds to project complexity whereas project manager’s characteristic of shared leadership and emotional intelligence moderates that effect. Results specified the fact that significant statistical effect exists between project complexity and leadership styles of the project manager. The practical implication of the study is that it can be used to enhance the leadership styles and emotional intelligence of the project managers and to prepare them to manage project complexity by paying more attention towards ambiguity and design & technology or for all the process under consideration. en_US
