dc.description.abstract Number of network devices in the world are increasing day by day, with such increasing number of devices real-time monitoring is required for network security and intrusion detection. Network monitoring is an important part of maintaining computer networks. The main purpose of network monitoring is to monitor traffic, network performance and problems within a network, it also provides us with data which is required for data mining and anomaly detection in a network. For this purpose, many different techniques are used by network administrator to understand and monitor the traffic flow and handle devices on the network. Conventional network monitoring software tools like ‘Wire shark’ and ‘Nmap’ provide little to no help in accurate visualization of packet flow within a network. These tools fail when implemented in an Autonomous System (AS) with tens of routers and switches. Moreover, there is a lack of low resource consuming Remote Administrative Tool (RAT) capable of controlling nodes (devices) within an AS. There is a need for a tool cable of packet flow visualization and monitoring and managing computers in a network. This research work proposes a GUI-based solution capable of network topology mapping, monitoring network at packet flow level, 3D visualization and a client-server model-based tool for network administrator to monitor and manage the computer activities within the network with data processing being done on the main Server. en_US
