dc.description.abstract A LED lamp or LED light bulb is an electric light for use in light fixtures that produces light using Light-Emitting Diode (LED). Due to high demand in market, different brands of LEDs lights are present, which claim their superiority in several aspects on their competitors. This study incorporates analysis and comparison between an international and local brand of household LEDs. There were two basic aims to conduct this study, one was analyzing the difference in terms of quality between the two brands, and the other was to perceive about the awareness level of some of important stakeholders. In terms of awareness level analysis this study is pioneer in Pakistan, as well as awareness level of the stakeholders was helpful in to analyze their point of view regarding LED lights. The study tested selected electrical parameters such as current, voltage, power and power factor. The useful information regarding consumer choice of the LEDs was collected through questionnaire surveys from the selected study areas. The retailer surveys were conducted from Abpara market (Islamabad) and Sadiqabad market (Rawalpindi), whereas consumer surveys were conducted from I-8 sector (Islamabad) and Sadiqabad (Rawalpindi). The results of electrical parameters revealed the superiority of international brand, as it saves significant amount of energy, although its high cost is its major drawback. On the other hand, local brand is cost effective, yet less energy efficient as compared to the international brand of LED lights. The results of the consumer and retailer surveys varied due to different economic conditions in both areas. The pricing had a great influence on the purchasing decision. Based on results recommendations were given which may be useful for the concerned authorities. en_US
