Abstract:
The main aim of this research is to estimate the hydrocarbon potential of reservoir in Kandra area, lies in the Central Indus Basin, Pakistan. Geographically, the study area lies in Sukkur district, Sindh province. The Kendra area is studied with the help of 2-D seismic and petro physical analysis. In the seismic data interpretation the horizons were marked and faults were identified on the formation tops which are named as Sui Main Limestone, Lower Goru and Chiltan formation. The time and depth contour maps were generated which delineated the subsurface structures and tectonic activities in the study area. Normal faults are marked on the seismic sections. However, the through of the faults was very minor. The extension of faults ranges from north to south and dips of faults were observed towards east. The study area lies in extensional regime. The structure that are resulted in response of extension in study area are then marked on the seismic section are horst and grabens structures. Horst and graben geometry was observed on the seismic lines which is considered to be a promising geometry for the accumulation of hydrocarbons. The petroleum system include source rock Sembar and Wulgai, reservoir rock Chiltan and Wulgai. The interbedded formational shales act as vertical seal for the reservoirs. After performing petro physical analysis, it is concluded that Sui Main Limestone of Eocene age is a proved reservoir in Kandra-02 well with an average hydrocarbon saturation of 88.12%
