2D seismic data interpretation, petrophysical analysis and burial history calculation of Khaur area, upper Indus basin, Pakistan (P-1254) (MFN 8604)

Abstract

The basic objective of the study is to get preliminary understanding of the subsurface structural trend and stratigraphy of the cited area. Seismic data interpretation eventually resulted in outcomes as time and depth contour maps. Khaur area is a part of Postwar sub basin of the Upper Indus Basin of Pakistan. Seismic section lines PDK-105, PDK-106, PDK-107, PDK-108, and PDK-111 were obtained from LMKR with prior approval of DGPC to carry out this study. Four reflectors were marked Chorgali, Sakesar, Lockhart, and To bra on the basis of well tops. The discontinuities in the ref1ectors show the presence of thrust fault. The faults bounded block form a pop up structure forming an anticline. As Chorgali was not a potential reservoir here so a part of Sakesar was chosen on the basis of well data. No cross-over zones were identified which showed that KHAUR OXY-01 no longer acts as potential reservoir and that's why is now abandoned
