Abstract:
The study area of Dhodak is located away from DG Khan in the province of Punjab, Dhodak falls in the west Suleiman Fore deep adjacent to Suleiman fold belt. It is situated on the west bank of the Indus River, 200 miles (320km) west of Lahore and 120 miles (190 km) northwest of Multan. Rocks from Cambrian to Oligocene age are exposed in this region. Six migrated seismic lines, and one well named Dhodak-01 were acquired from Director General Petroleum Concessions DGPC. Three horizons have been identified on the seismic section using formation tops from well and their depths have confirmed. Time, velocity and depth contour maps of the horizons of zone of interest have been generated which shows that pop up structure has been formed as a result of these thrust faults. All the production of hydrocarbon has been taken from this pop-up structure. Petro physical evaluation was done by using well logs provided in the data. The petrophysical interpretation results shows that Pab Sandstone shows good hydrocarbon potential, with having more than 36% effective porosity and having 62% hydrocarbon saturation.
