dc.description.abstract China and Russia have changed the overall nature of their relations ever since Soviet Collapse. They have moved on from being adversaries at the time of Cold War to becoming partners in the contemporary era by adopting the policy of pragmatism for cooperation against the western international system. Although many would consider this partnership to opportunist, tactical, or even temporary; but it seems that both of these powers are achieving more and more compatibility with regards to the political, economic, and security situations in the world. As both of these powers share a common worldview of multi-polarity Validating Kenneth Waltz’s idea of Balance of power, as multipolarity will give birth to a more stable, equilibrate world order and weaken the power of the west, especially the United States. Both of these powers share a common goal which is to change the status quo and to change the power center from West to the East. As their partnership is strengthening and acquiring strategic depth, the goal of these states is to bring about a change in the overall global governance paradigms in the world. In order to reach a conclusion, the paper will proceed in following steps. Firstly, a background and historical view of Russia and China’s relations will be provided. Secondly, the paper will analyze the bilateral relations between China and Russia and along with their regional and international affairs will be studied and contextualized. Finally, the conclusion will discuss whether a Sino-Russian alliance is a feasible path to challenge unipolarity or the two great powers are not inclined to meet their multipolarity desires. This research will endeavor to study and explain the strengths of both these powers and elucidate their common objectives, striving to bring change in the international power configuration: posing a threat to the US hegemony. en_US
