Abstract:
Depth perception among living thing is due to the presence of two eyes. Each eye form a separate picture of the scene and transmits the image to brain to perceive depth. So we are going to calculate the depth of an object using stereo images. To estimate depth from stereo images of various objects invariant to their orientations or the degrees of freedom. Depth can be calculated from different methods, Time of flight, Structured light etc. But here we are going to calculate the depth of any object using stereo images and we are doing this in nine degrees of freedom. For this the cameras are needed to be calibrated, through which we can achieve accurate results than any other method. The difference between this method and other methods is that its cost is very low and quality is very high as compare to other methods. We are using two cameras from which we extract the images and calculate the depth. The main purpose of the project is to improve the depth estimation quality of the object that is knowing that how much is the object far away from the cameras
