dc.description.abstract The key feature of 5th Generation communication system is the real time monitoring and the control through Internet of Things (IoT) network. The IoT network is a system of interconnected electronic devices, which work in a collaborative manner to sense and control the environmental parameters under observation. The IoT networks are being deployed in various fields to achieve purposeful objective such as smart homes, smart logistics and wearable. The automobiles industry is implementing the concept of ubiquitous computing in the form of self-driving cars and autonomous vehicular maintenance systems. This project presents the idea of the real time monitoring of sensors embedded in electronic cars. An engine control unit (ECU) is a type of electronic control unit that monitors the inbuilt sensors and controls a series of actuators on an internal combustion engine to ensure optimal engine performance. The Car Engine Check Light Fault (CELF) detector uses the ECU output to achieve following two objectives; proactive and reactive maintenance. The proactive care mode keeps the track of periodic maintenance based on the time and the mileage of the vehicle. The reactive maintenance includes real time monitoring of the ECU based sensors and the generation of alerts for the customers on an android application. The status of vehicle monitored by the CELF detector is also accessible to the workshop and dealer ship stores so that they can coordinate with the car owners to schedule the vehicular maintenance service as and when required. One of the key features of the CELF detector is its noninvasive installation which increases the acceptability of the product for the target market en_US
