dc.description.abstract Science and technology have not only increased the comforts of human beings greatly, but it has also made our domestic life very easy. The ease and luxury, which we have nowadays, seemed almost impossible back in the 20th century. Few among these technological advancements are fast and effective means of travel and communication. The importance of technology in travelling has shorten long distances and has made faraway places come closer. Airports are one of the most visited and used platforms for travelling because they are the fastest and safest way to travel. This has resulted in increased passenger count at airports. This count has grown up to an extent where commuters sometimes result in causing congestions at different travel or junction nodes e.g. drop lanes, fast lanes, parking areas and in and out delivery points etc. Vacant parking spaces in densely populated airports are hard to find. Event based management and utilization of resources can provide a solution to all these problems. The project entitled “Smart Regulatory and Parking System for Vehicles at IIAP” provides a solution consisting of wireless sensors connected to smart mobile application in order to help the passengers. The main purpose of the project is to provide a smart solution called smart traffic manager (STM) to control traffic congestion, aid vehicles and utilize available resources efficiently based on real time flight data. Smart Traffic Manager (STM) is the need of time, it is a system comprised of features to handle the traffic flow by controlling it through control system technology and smart mobile application. The project is proposed for the newly build airport in the capital city Islamabad. The STM will not only help authorities to provide better facilities to the passengers but also will revolutionize the traffic management perspective. This system is implementable on any complex infrastructure having poor congestion control and limited usage of resources. This project can play a vital role in developing smart cities where everything is interconnected en_US
