dc.description.abstract A comprehensive research was carried out in this field of human resource practices and the researcher tried to cover all the aspects from all the angles. Despite the importance of the topic, its implication couldn't be ignored in today's competitive environment. A good education is not so much one which prepares a man to succeed in the world as, one which enables him to sustain a failure. The man focus of the study is to have a comparative analysis of HR practices i.e. recruitment, selection, retention and carrier development from local vs. foreign organizations. The entire HR process, from job analysis to job design and from HR planning to appraisals and rewards, is conducted in a way to enhance productivity, employee satisfaction and ultimately profitability. Only when you have the best can you produce and sell the best. All these HR practices are conducted with the utmost detail and are very thorough so as to maintain accuracy and to have the maximum impact. Under these main areas, the different procedures and techniques used are studied at great length and it will be seen how successful each organization is in achieving its objective. It shall be seen that a very comprehensive recruitment and selection procedure is followed and great emphasis is put on the career planning and development.• This shows the investment Unilever and Kohinoor makes in its employees so that a symbiotic relationship can emerge whereby companies are content to have a dedicated workforce who are working for the greater good of the company and employees are equally happy to be working in a company where they get their dues in terms of remuneration, rewards, a congenial atmosphere and ultimately job satisfaction. en_US
