Abstract:
Present study intends to assess the relationship between Self-concept and academic Achievement . among university students. The study also investigated the gender differences in relation to Academic Self-concept and Academic Achievement. To measure the Academic Self-concept Urdu version of Academic Self-concept Scale (ASCS) (Ahmed & Haq, 1997) was translated in to English version. The sample for translation was 20 and the reliability of the translated version is (r = 88) value which is high. Correlational analysis revealed that there is positive relationship between Self-concept and Academic Achievement for the over all sample. Findings revealed significant gender difference in self-concept. Women scored high on self-concept as • compared to men similarly were score high on Academic Achievement oriented. The implication of this study is for researchers to study more related to this topic . In Pakistan more studies will be carried out after this study. From this study teachers have to consider every student (men & women) rank equally.
