dc.description.abstract Purpose The purpose of this research is to find the awareness level of information security among the employees of banking sector in Karachi. Banking sector is considered as one of the most fragile sector in terms of Information Security. Data security, management and confidentiality of information are extremely important in banking sector due to the involvement of money and capital. Just because of this confidentiality and capital involved transaction, it is very important for Bank employees to have knowledge about working computers or systems and information security to avoid any mishap in future.So, main aim of the study is to determine whether the employees of banking sector have the significant knowledge of Information security or not. Methodology This research study was descriptive research in nature. In this study, quantitative research methodology was used which is the efficient observational examination of recognizable phenomena through factual, scientific or computational methods. The goal of quantitative exploration is to create and utilize numerical models, hypotheses and/or theories relating to phenomena. Sampling techniques which was used in this study is non-probability sampling technique. Required information has been collected by the population through a well-structured questionnaire. In this study, the population of 150 employees of 15 branches has been taken from 5 different banks of Karachi. Banks which have been selected in this study were Habib Bank limited (HBL), United Bank Limited (UBL), Muslim Commercial Bank (MCB), Meezan Bank and Bank Al-Habib. Population contains the employees who were computer users and uses computer for office working on daily basis. One sample t test was used on the SPSS software to check the significance ofthe hypotheses. Results and Findings The results from significant values of all hypotheses proved that employees does not have significant awareness ofinformation security because all the resulted values of hypotheses are rejected as all the significant values are greater than 0.05.Practical Implications All the hypotheses are rejected in this research study which means that employees of banks does not have significant awareness of information security, so the banks should have to provide trainings to their employees in order to keep them update according to the information security needs and also maintained TNA (Training need analyzes) for which it can only be recommended that proper trainings are required to keep the employees updated and informed about the proper information handling and to urge them in securing the information for their safety as well as the bank security. It is also recommended that banks should in place the system ofinternal audit in order to check and verify ifthe employees are well verse from the information security measures necessary en_US
