Facial recognition attendance system

Abstract

The project is about marking the attendance of the students through the facial recognition and detection through camera. In this project, system use the face image of a person to mark his/her attendance. Attendance is the main thing for the university to have record of attendance of the student. Prior methods for taking attendance is by calling names or roll calls of the student and the attendance is recorded, But this method is time consuming. For example, the duration for a particular subject is around one hour and to record attendance the old method of attendance marking takes around 5 to 10 minutes. For every lecturer, it is time consuming task. In order to overcome this problems, we introduced an automatic facial recognition attendance system. In this project, system take an image of whole class then the faces are extracted from it which are then matched with the faces in face database. If the faces are matched then that student’s attendance is marked otherwise absent
