dc.description.abstract The study was aimed at investigating the effectiveness of classroom communication at university level in Islamabad & Rawalpindi. The following were the main objectives of this study: To assess the appropriateness of different methods of communication used by the teacher to transmit knowledge and its comprehension by the students; To look into the opinion and attitude of both the teachers and the taught towards the factors facilitating communication in the classroom; To work out some statistically significant inferences in regard to teachers' and students' perception of the ways classroom communication can be made more effective To suggest measures to enhance the effectiveness of communication in the classroom. For the purpose of analysis, two samples were drawn, one from the students and the other from their teachers. The sample one was drawn from the students of different semesters. Out of the total number of 225 students, 212 students were selected for the purpose of this study. The sample two comprised all the teachers teaching at that time. The total number of such teachers at the time of data collection was 60 and out of which 57 respondents were selected for the analysis. Considering that the population of the study was educated and could respond well to written questions, the data were collected with the help of questionnaires. With the teachers the questionnaires were administered individually. However, the researcher with the assistance of his colleagues completed this exercise in the classroom and collected back all the questionnaires at the end of the work. The response patterns of students and teachers were compared by percentages for the purpose of descriptive analysis. Furthermore, the statistical inferences were applied to support the results deducted from analysis. Discussion on the obtained data enabled the researcher to come up with fruitful conclusions that led to important recommendations. And this study provided an opportunity for gathering particular data related to the effectiveness of classroom communication, as research literature in Pakistan offers little evidence of previous studies. en_US
