dc.description.abstract Name of student: Shireen Qamar Name of supervisor: M Aurangzeb Khan Research Title: "Financial Crime in Pakistan: A Research Study Based On the Last Five Years (1999-2003)" Number of Pages: 37 Degree Conferred: BBA (Hons) Finance Date: 20th August, 2004 Problem: High levels of corruption in Pakistan have not only limited investment and growth in the country but have also lead to ineffective government. Financial crime in the form of corruption has reduced the impact of development assistance and provided an incentive to exploit natural resources, further depleting our environmental assets. It reduced the effectiveness of public administration and distorted public expenditure decisions, channeling urgently needed resources away from sectors such as health and education to corruption-prone sectors or personal enrichment. Unfortunately, it has not only eroded the rule of law but has a l so harmed the reputation and trust in the state. Objectives: Thus the objective behind carrying out this research is to identify and study the main sources of financial crime or fraud in Pakistan and to compare the methods of controlling financial crime in Pakistan and the rest of the world. And accordingly make recommendations with regard to investigations and controlling financial crime in Pakistan. en_US
