Number of paqes: 38 Degree conferred: BBA (Hons) Date: 16th August 2004 To analyze the financial performance of OGDCL, ratio and horizontal trend analysis was carried out. Simultaneously the initial public offering by OGDCL was also studied. Secondary data comprising of balance sheets and income statements for the period 1998-2003 were used for the analysis. Being the largest oil and gas exploration and production company in Pakistan it is working efficiently and its profitably is increasing day by day as shown in table 4. 4. The launching of IPO was a great success as people wanted to invest in OGDCL looking at its past performance and its future strategies. The government is moving towards privatization so that there is a true competition. Based on the analysis, it is concluded that OGDCL is the leading oil and gas company in Pakistan with maximum production of 26,039 barrels of crude oil per day. Based on the research, it is recommended that OGDCL should be consistent and stable to continue new discoveries and also to maintain the old ones. It should strengthen relevant preventive measures against any unwanted situations like malfunctioning of the machinery or quarrels with the locals of the area.
