Abstract:
Our everyday life is significantly influenced by technology with each passing day. The car
parking problem in big malls, offices and public places is becoming a challenge with the
growing traffic. We present an idea for an efficient car parking system that can be distributed
across many locations hence decentralizing the parking spots from specific limited parking
locations.
We aim to provide this solution for crowded places. Basically, and initially, we focused on
implement our car parking system at Bahria University Islamabad to facilitate the students
and faculty. We present a project prototype which is intended to be implemented in near
future as funds become available. We created a prototype which is controlled by an operator
from control room. The system can also be accessed by web and android application to locate
the vacant parking slots so that anyone can find the space to park in the rush time hours.
The system works on the basis of collecting information from sensors fixed in parking slot
areas and updating the status of each slot as filled or empty. Knowing the status of available
space at the parking area through web and android, one can avoid wastage of time which is
caused by manual searching for the parking space.
