dc.description.abstract This research study is about the ever increasing problem of our society i.e. drugs. The topic of research is "Factors that influence the non-prescribed drug usage among drug addicts in Islamabad". In this research the various factors like peer pressure, pleasure seeking, social drinking, stressful life situations, depression, easy availability etc. are studied and found out that why because of these reasons people start taking drugs. A sample size of 50 respondents was used for study. The respondents were taken from only one city i.e. Islamabad. The research instrument used was questionnaire because it is an economical way to collect data from a potentially large number of respondents. The questionnaires were randomly distributed among respondents some of the respondents were taken from a rehabilitation center. The questionnaire was tested by applying statistical tools. Frequency and percentage distribution showed that mostly addicts agreed that peer pressure, pleasure seeking, stressful life situations, depression, social drinking and easy availability of drugs are the major factors which leads towards drug usage . Keeping in view the findings it is recommended that parents and government should keep a proper check and control of these issues. Parents should keep the family environment healthy and free of tensions and keep a check on their children's company and their social circles. Rehabilitation centers should be opened. Awareness programs should be conducted. Surveys should be done by government and Narcotics control board for reduction of demand. en_US
