dc.description.abstract My name is Mariam Pervaiz. I am a graduate of BBA (Honors), 2004. This thesis on "Relationship between Parenting Styles and Need Achievement among University Students" has been completed under the supervision of Ms. Naintara Sarfaraz. This research attempts to investigate whether or not any relationship between the above mentioned dependent and independent variables exists. It also aims to study the nature and extent of the cause and effect relationship between various parenting styles and need achievement among students and at the same time identifies certain dominating variables that intervene in the relationship under study. Primary data for the purpose of hypothesis testing was collected through dissemination of questionnaires among students of various universities, which revealed the existence of a close relationship between each parenting style and the need achievement level of the child. Out of the four parenting styles, only authoritative parenting style came out to be most effective and most positively linked to the achievement levels of the students. Parents therefore should be very mindful of the kind of style they adopt, for it could have far-reaching effects on their children's academic career. en_US
