dc.description.abstract | This study assesses the current status of laws and practices of sorcery in Pakistan. It is a qualitative type of research based on the incidents regarding sorcery along with their harms. Major sources of the research are news reports, articles, first information reports along with laws of different countries regarding sorcery. Pakistan is an Islamic State and according to the Constitution of Pakistan all the laws should be in accordance with Quran and Sunnah. So, the study focuses on the status of sorcery, prohibition of sorcery and its punishments in Islam. The study also assesses the laws of Saudi Arabia and India on sorcery to propose certain amendments required in The Prevention of Witchcraft bill of Pakistan. The research looks into the details of ‘The Prevention of Witchcraft Bill’ proposed in the light of the principles of Islam and also suggests certain necessary amendments that are required including strict punishments in law for sorcerers and fake amils in the light of injunctions of Islam. | en_US |
