dc.description.abstract hat such a war would never happen again. Its purpose was and is to maintain international peace and security and to quickly and efficiently deal with any inter or intra-state conflict that might arise and threaten this peace and security. During the Cold War, nations were undergoing the process of decolonizing and gaining independence, leading to conflicts and civil wars across the globe. In order to deal with these, the UN created peacekeeping which would help the organization intervene in these conflicts. Since their inception, there have been 67 peacekeeping operations (PKOs) all over the world.1 This research looks at peacekeeping with regard to genocide, particularly those PKOs which have failed. The research looks at the impact their failure and focuses on the reasons behind it. en_US
