Abstract:
Miano .gas Field is selected for the study of reservoir characteristics of Lower Goru
Formation. This field is present in the Sindh province of Pakistan which is the most
hydrocarbon producing region of Pakistan. Geologically this area is present in the
Middle Indus Basin, between Jacobabad High which is in the East and Mari-
Kandhkot High on the West defining the boundary of Middle Indus Basin. Sand facies
of Lower Goru Formation are the main reservoir units in this region. This field was a
major discovery in Pakistan as it was the first stratigraphic trap discovered in
Pakistan.
To accomplish this study five (05) well were selected namely Miano-01, Miano-02,
Miano-04, Miano-07 and Miano-10. These wells had full suite of conventional logs
which include Gamma Ray Log, Resistivity Logs, Density and Neutron Porosity
Logs, and Sonic logs. Raw curves of these logs were used for the Petrophysical
Interpretation to evaluate the reservoir characteristics and quality distribution. The
bore hole conditions of these wells were not suitable for the interpretation as the
borehole rugosity was very high in the deeper sections.

Petrophysical studies include the determination of the porosities, resistivity of water,
saturation of water, net to gross ratio, saturation of hydrocarbons, and volume of
shale. The results show the presence of clean Sandstone with good porosity in the
productive zones of Lower Goru Formation. The well zonation is carried out by
viewing the borehole rugosity, curves behavior along with the volume of shale &
Sandstone.
