Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of supportive work environment on
employee retention at banking sector of Pakistan. The impact of supportive work
environment, peer group interaction, perceived climate, supervisory relationship, perceived
organization support on the employee retention, has been examined.
Methodology:
Adopting deductive approach, hypotheses were formulated after in-depth review of the
available literature, following by data collection through a questionnaire. The primary
quantitative data was gathered through the questionnaire from a sample of 200 respondents,
selected through non-probability convenience sampling technique. The data gathered for the
research was analyzed through statistical tools Pearson’s Correlation and Regression analysis
tests, with the help of software SPSS, version 20.
Findings: Result of the study has indicated that hypotheses are accepted indicating that there is a
positive relation between variables. The findings of the study facilitated in concluded that
supportive work environment with employee retention. Considering the findings being
obtained so far, it has been evaluated that supportive work environment is found to be highly
effective for the employee retention.
Implications:
The data were limited to Banks of Pakistan setting and of cross-sectional design only, so, it
may not be generalized across the world. Further, sample size is also comparatively smaller
but results are not affected adversely.
