dc.description.abstract BIM is gaining attention globally due to its benefits during the whole building's construction life cycle covering all phases of project from conception to completion. Despite that fact Pakistan like other developing countries is lagging in BIM adoption. To facilitate the adoption of BIM in the AEC industry, the purpose of this paper to identify the key factors for BIM adoption among architects of Pakistan to bring awareness. A questionnaire survey of architects is conducted in Pakistan mainly in Lahore and Islamabad. The structural equation model (SEM) is developed with collected data by using Smart PLS to identify the key factors affecting the BIM adoption in the industry. It is found statistically that BIM capability is top most significant factors for the adoption of BIM among the architects in Pakistan. The other two factors motivation and management support also have positive effect on BIM adoption in Pakistan. The trainings are very important to increase the BIM adoption in the industry Due to time and resource limitations, only one of the AEC professions was chosen as research respondents. For future study other professions like construction managers, project engineers, project managers etc should be selected to investigate the BIM adoption and issues in Pakistan. en_US
