dc.description.abstract | Incidents involving risks in vertical transportation (escalator and elevators) are the major concern all over the world due to the fast track nature of projects. These incidents results in injuries and in worst cases, loss of human lives. So the purpose of this research is to find out the risks involving the safety factors in vertical transportation, which includes health safety engineering (HSE) requirements in fast track nature of the projects in Pakistan. The method adopted for this research work was qualitative in nature. Detail study of accidents literature and, for data collection, interviews were conducted from the employees involved in installation, operation and maintenance of vertical transportation. Results of interviews lead towards data analysis which involves transcript of the interviews responses, evaluating the common words called nodes. Each node was further refined and basic themes of the respondent's answers was studied. On the basis of themes evaluated, we concluded few reasons of the accidents which includes; fast tracking of the project, deviation from the safety standard, rework involved in fast track projects, lack of coordination and lack of training. Our major recommendations were to have proper training sessions and improved coordination amongst all the stakeholders | en_US |
