Abstract:
Generally the aim was to understand the tectonics and geology of the Khaur area along with the interpretation procedure of migrated seismic sections and to check out the subsurface structures. As the area is an compressional regime so faults were marked according to their type and structure they are making. Formations were marked with the help of Well Khaur OXY 1. Interpretation was done on the migrated seismic lines PDK-107, PDK-108, PDK-110 and PDK-111 of Khaur area. This data was obtained from Land Mark Resources (LMKR) by the permission of Directorate General of Petroleum Concession (DGPC) Islamabad. The general dip direction in the project area of lines PDK-107, PDK-108, PDK-110 is N-S and hence the line PDK-111 oriented W-E is regarded as strike line. The required information was in time domain which was helpful in the conversion of time into depth by solving the velocity windows given in the seismic sections with the help of equation i.e s=vt. These calculations helped in subsurface interpretation of the area, which was the basic purpose of this project. Five reflectors were marked named Chorgali (Bhadrar), Sakesar, Patala, Lockhart and Wargal. Time and depth contour maps were generated which helped us to know the basic mechanism of tectonic settings in the area.
