dc.description.abstract The motive behind designing this stick is simply to assist the visually impaired by guiding them the path, free of obstacles. It will allow the blind people to explore new environments safely and independently. There are many existing technologies that increase the independence of the visually impaired, yet these technologies are still lacking in certain areas. This device will detect the objects, stairs and emergency signs and will alert the blind person through a proper voice command and vibrator. Generally blind people use Stick as their traveling aid, so adding a sensor and a vibration motor we have enhanced the functionality as well as increased the accuracy of this stick. The reason why we opted for the stick option is that mostly blind people use stick while traveling so that they won’t find it difficult to handle this stick because they are used to of it. As we know, ultrasonic sensors work at certain height, to resolve this matter we have used camera in this project. The camera will observe the environment and in the meantime it will scan the coordinates of objects and stairs and according to the scanning it will guide the user through voice by telling him to move in right or left directions respectively. en_US
