Abstract:
Our project named “Final Year Project Management System ” which is actually an online
system for managing final year projects is mainly targeted for students of computer science
department. This system won’t only reduce the workload of students but also of teachers
mainly supervisors and most importantly project coordinator. Not only this but this system
will also help in organizing the data in a systematic manner along with saving the precious
time of the University and definitely the cost. This web system is for time being used by
the Computer Science department but will soon cover all the departments of the university
just by doing few changes in the system. Methodology that has been used for this system is
“Prototype” as it is so far best process for websites development. The system is made 100
percent customizable so when it is needed to implement it in other departments or even in
universities, necessary changes can be made into it. As previously there was no system
in our university to handle final year projects so the design and interface of the system is
totally developed by our own with the help of reviewing other universities existing systems.
The interface and design are made user friendly so when the user uses the system, he
should makes full use of it rather than understanding or learning it to perform a particular
task. The system is made in such a way so that supervisors not only view the report but
also give his remarks and evaluate the performance accordingly. He can set his meetings
with the students and if student miss a certain number of meetings, warning will be issued
to alert the student about his carelessness. On the other hand students can request for the
fundings if required for their projects and supervisor can approve or disapprove it. Project
coordinator, who will admin all the modules will view all the profiles, getting reports about
each group and their performance. He can make necessary announcements to let students
and supervisor know about important things and will be able to generate automatic emails
to the students.
