dc.description.abstract The study area lies on the southern slopes of the Margalla hills towards the eastern side of the Muree Expressway. The slope is unstable and have undergone landslide in the study area and requires slope stability analysis. This research is about the evaluation of landslide and to propose effective remedial measures of landslide. This study analyzes landslide in the vicinity of unstable slope to perform kinematic analysis and analytical analysis to determine Factor of Safety (SF) using method of slices to evaluate the driving and resisting forces along the failure surface. The SF is the used to propose mitigative measure of landslide. Stability analyses were carried out using computer modeling techniques to assess the stability of landslide and the effectiveness of proposed slope stabilization measures. Kinematic analysis suggests that plane and wedge failure is unlikely along major joint sets. However, toppling failure occurred along bedding joints. Also, SF obtained from geotechnical characterization turn out to be 1.080 along the cross section of landslide which is less than standard value of 1.3. Thus, Slope geometry modification as remedial measure is applied thorough SLIDE 6.0 software and SF is then calculated. After modification, SF value for slope is 1.32, which suggests the slope will be stable. en_US
