Abstract:
This study examines the relationship between job autonomy, workload and job performance of teachers. Education being a critical element for advancement in Pakistan and increasing number of students and offered programs in universities were one of the main reasons to select higher education institutes for this study. Questionnaires were used to collect data from teachers of higher education institutes in Islamabad. Responses were collected from 209 respondents using convenience sampling technique. Regression analysis and correlation analysis were used to test hypothesis statistically in SPSS. It was found work autonomy positively affects job performance whereas negative relationship was found between workload and job performance. Further study can be conducted in other sectors for better understanding and generalizability
