Abstract:
Availability of women in higher designations in any organization is less or rare than men all over the globe and same scenario exist in case of Pakistan. Pakistan is country where conventional and old-fashioned culture exist, and the society is male conquered. Women’s in any field are facing issues and barriers while advancing and progressing in their careers. There can be many reasons behind this less or slow career advancement of women. Education is critical progress of any nation. A nation or country cannot survive without educated and civilized citizens of a country. Teaching is a profession which is perceived to be the most appropriate and suitable job for females all over the world and specially in Pakistan. Even in education sector females are facing obstacles in career advancement. Keeping in view the difficulties faced by females in career advancement, this study explains why women are not advancing in their careers in higher education sector in the areas of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. This study aims to understand the impact of self-confidence on career advancement of females in higher education sector and the moderator role played by training and development. This study is quantitative in nature as main purpose was to check what females think of the impact of both variables and what previous researches say about it. Data is collected from females working in universities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Questionnaire were used to collect data from the population. SPSS is used to analyze the data.
