Abstract:
The purpose of the research was to explore the impact of involving different categories of stakeholders in project and their involvement's contribution for project success. Completing a project successfully is a milestone everyone expects to achieve but as stated in Project Management Literature different dimensions of success depends upon each stakeholder's criteria and is affected by their involvement. This study explores the impact of involving different categories of stakeholders empirically. The later part of the research investigates the relationship of a Qualified Project Manager and its moderating effect on achieving project success having the involvement of stakeholders. Data is collected (in year 2018) from 352 individuals working in different project based organizations, both in public and private sector within Islamabad and Rawalpindi using mono-method quantitative study. The respondents comprise project managers and project team members (who have worked or lead or project) ensuring uniform representation. Stakeholders' involvement contributes better towards project success. However in the case of the moderating effect of a qualified project manager, the academic qualification and professional certification partially moderates on Project Team Involvement on Project Success while there is no moderation effect of User Involvement and Top Management Involvement on Project Success. Further, there's apparently no difference between the Stakeholder's Involvement on Project Success in public or private sector, however the qualified Project Manager does moderate partially on the Project Team Involvement in private sector only. The research suggests that the underlying mechanism of Academic education and professional certification of project manager are less clear and this particular area of research needs to be explored.
