dc.description.abstract Following study was conducted in Qurumber National Park, Ghizer, and Gilgit- Baltistan, Pakistan. Field work was conducted from 23rd May to 26th May 2013 in spring whereas winter wildlife survey was conducted from 30th November to 2nd December 2013. Aim was to establish the baseline information on population and distribution of Himalayan Ibex (Capra Ibex Sibrica). Study area was basically the recently declared Qurumber National Park. For further ease and accuracy the population of Himalayan Ibex was shown mainly in Nullahs which are within the National park boundary namely Qurumber nullah, Piyakhen nullah, Suktarabad nullah, Mutrumdan nullah, Buk nullah, Yazbin nullah, and Ganjaabad. Direct count method was applied during the biannual surveys across the national park. Direct count and fixed Vantage point were applied to count the wildlife population. Power Binoculars 10x50, spotting scopes were used to scan the catchment areas of nullahs and Valley. Compass and Garmin GPS were used to record bearing, aspects and coordinates of the sighted wildlife, Digital cameras (SONY DSLR A 200) were used for herds and habitat pictures. Survey was done during early in the morning and late in afternoon when the animals were more active in feeding and drinking. Each herd was classified into different sex and age classes viz., male, female, adult (>2 years age), yearling (> 6 and <12 months), kid (< 6 months) and trophy size males (> 7 years old). en_US
