dc.description.abstract Due to common use of power electronics equipment and integration of renewable energy resources, the quality of electrical power system is more concern for the researchers. The inverter which is connected in the grid act as basic components in distributed generated system (DG). The application of power electronics in power conversion shows drawbacks that lead to poor power quality which in return create unwanted harmonics, failure of circuit breaker, breakdown of cable insulation, heating, solid state devices malfunction and resonance. Fast amalgamation of distributed energy resources such as wind energy conversion system, fuel cells, solar photovoltaic system, distributed power generation system and storage devices continuously reducing the burden from national power grid. On the other hand, these renewable energy devices caused harmonics, heat and many other issues related to power quality. In industries linear and nonlinear load and renewable energy devices are installed, such as static var compensator and nonlinear rectifier which badly affect the quality of power system. Nonlinear load caused distortion of voltages and these distortions are the roots of power quality failure of sensitive equipment and increase the power losses. So, we need to clean the point of common coupling from these harmonics and malfunctions. HAPF with sliding mode controller and notch harmonic detection technique are implemented to enhance the quality of power of distribution system. Sliding mode controller is more fast and robust in nonlinearity controlling. This method improves the power quality with washing the PCC from harmonics and voltage distortions which is started through the grid. SMC is used, and proposed system clean the PCC from voltage sags, swell and distortion which is because of nonlinear load, hence no malfunction entered in grid station. Simulation results carried out on 1.6 kVA prototype and discussed. en_US
