dc.description.abstract The basic objective of this study is to understand the surface and sub-surface geology and structural configuration of Gali Jagir and adjoining areas in district Attock, Punjab province, Pakistan. The study was carried out by conducting lithostructural mapping of the study area by using 1:10000 scale topo sheet and satellite imagery. Multiple field visit were made in order to mark traverses along the dip. Later on seismic data was also integrated to extend the geological map. The map was digitized by using ArcGIS and two geological cross sections were prepared. The study area hosts complex structural regime including both brittle and ductile style of deformation controlled by south east verging Khairi Murat Fault and hinterland verging Dhurnal Back Thrust. The Khairi Murat Fault is bisected by a right-lateral tear fault into eastern and western segments. The hanging wall is deformed into anticlinal and synclinal sequence with over all fault bend fold and positive flow structure due to shearing phenomena. The footwall geometries are controlled by the basement decollement (SRT) and a passive roof thrust (DBT) marking a triangular zone which host a no of oil fields. en_US
