Abstract:
Study area which is Kahi village section lies in the Nizampur basin located at the southern margin of Attock-Cherat Ranges. It is present in tectonically active area which is bounded towards north and south by Attock-Cherat Ranges and Kala-Chitta Ranges respectively. The strength of Samana Suk Formation has been studied through mechanical and physical tests like Los Angeles, Soundness and specific gravity and absorption tests. Microscopic analysis has also been carried out to study the effect of mineral constituents on the strength of aggregate as stylolite and allochems both results in the decrease in mechanical strength of rock but aggregate of Samana Suk formation can be used for constructional purposes due to its low loss, abrasion and absorption values.
