Abstract:
Fort Abbas area is located at Punjab Platform. The Area Fort Abbas which is licensed for exploration covers an area of about 7040 Sq.km in Bahawalpur and Bahawlnagar Districts of Punjab Province. The main purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the structure and hydrocarbon potential using seismic and well log data. The targeted formations are Top Eocene, Top Jurassic, Top Permian and Top Cambrian. Some major normal faults were also identified along these formations. Time, depth and velocity contour maps of Top Eocene, Top Jurassic, Top Permian and Top Cambrian are generated which confirm the horst structure bounded by normal faults in the subsurface and is acting as trap for hydrocarbons.Crustal shortening analysis has also been performed on the depth section which indicates an extensional regime.Rock Physics and geo-mechanics cross-sections have been generated to understand the distribution of elastic properties, pore pressure across the study area. Petro physical analysis have been carried out to delineate the source, reservoir and seal formations and calculate their hydrocarbon potential. Finally, seismic modelling has been done for further confirmation of interpretation
