Abstract:
Purpose:
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of Transformational Leadership (TL),
Psychological Empowerment (PE) & Affective Organizational Commitment (AOC)
Turnover Intention of Faculty in Private Universities of Karachi.
on
Design/ Methodology:
Data was collected from 358 faculty members of private universities of Karachi, through
questionnaire. The respondents responded by answering questions regarding their^
leadership, psychological empowerment, their level of commitment towards the organization
and their intentions to leave the organization in the near future. The analysis was done on the
basis of Regression & Correlation test done on SPSS.
Findings:
From the results obtained, it was found that transformational leadership plays an essential
role in retaining faculty. Also, it was found that faculty members who are psychological
empowered and possess high level of affective organizational commitment are less likely to
leave the organization.
Practical implications: Through practicing transformational leadership, organizations can build a high quality leader
member relationship which reduces the turnover intentions. At the same time, organizations environment that employees perceive as fair andcan empower employees and create beneficial to them as- it will increase employee commitment and thus reduce turnovei an
intentions.
