Abstract:
The present study was conducted to explore the relationship between somatic symptoms, bingeeating disorder and marital satisfaction among type II diabetes patients. Sample comprised of 128 type II diabetic patients. Patient health questionnaire-15(Spitzer,2002), Binge Eating DisorderScreener-7 (Herman, 2014), Couple Satisfaction Index -16 (Funk and Rogge,2007) were usedfor the data collection. It was hypothesized that type II diabetes positively correlated with somaticsymptoms and binge eating disorder and negative significant relationship of binge eating disorder and somatic symptoms. The results showed that somatic symptoms are significantly positivelycorrelated with the binge eating disorder and significantly negatively correlated with the marital satisfaction. It was also found that females have high level of somatic symptoms as compared to the males and showed low level of marital satisfaction as compared to the men. The study can be of greater help to the professionals to have better understanding to their patients conditions. This can also help the future researchers to better understand the importance of highlighting these issues which are not taken as a serious problem that needs clinical attention.
