Relationship of smartphone addiction, marital Satisfaction and cognitive failure among married Couples

Abstract

The study aimed in route for inspect the association concerning smartphone addiction, marital satisfaction and cognitive functioning amongst married couples. For this purpose Smartphone Addiction Scale – Short Version (SAS-SV) was selected to assess Smartphone addiction, Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS) was used to measure Marital satisfaction while Cognitive failure questionnaire (CFQ) was used to measure cognitive failures. Data was collected from married couples of twins cities i.e. Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The sample of the study comprised of 150 individuals which is cluster into two categories male (N=75) and female (N=75) with age range 18 – 45 years. The participants for the study were selected on the basis of progressive sampling, whereas data was analyzed by SPSS (Version 20). Psychometric properties of the scales indicted good reliability for the study sample. Results showed significant positive correlation of smartphone addiction with marital satisfaction and cognitive failure. There is no significant mean difference across demographic variables. Limitations and recommendation for the study are also provided
