dc.description.abstract Water is an essential element necessary for life. Without water, sustainable life on earth is not possible. 97% of the water present is salt water and not suitable for use whereas only 3% of the water is fresh water. The aim of this study was to assess the water quality of Gulberg Green and PWD society of Islamabad. In the study pH, TDS, EC, Temperature, Chlorine, Arsenic, Alkalinity, Sodium chloride, Fluoride, Turbidity, Hardness, and microbial tests were conducted. From the study, it was concluded that all the results were within the permissible limits. Only a few samples of Korang River showed higher values of arsenic. It is recommended that all necessary steps should be taken to keep the water suitable for drinking purposes. The waste water of Korang should be treated before entering streams en_US
