dc.description.abstract Qazian oil field is located in Potwar Sub-basin, Upper Indus Basin, Pakistan. The Qazian oil field was discovered in August 1991. This includes the subsurface structural interpretation, rock physics and reservoir estimation over Qazian Area, Upper Indus basin, Pakistan. The provided data comprised of five seismic lines on which three reflectors represented Sakesar Limestone, Chorgali Formation and Khewra Sandstone. The interpreted structure was NW-SE trending pop-up anticline bounded with one dipping major thrust fault and four minor back thrust faults. Velocity estimation was carried out using the velocity panels. This helped in calculating the vertical and lateral velocities and the depths. Using these velocities and depths, contour maps for velocity and depth were prepared. Time, velocity and depth contour maps confirmed the presence of pop-up structure and bounding thrust faults. The rock physics modelling reassured the presence of hydrocarbons in the Qazian Area. A new well site has also been suggested on the line 905-QZN-05 on the basis of abrupt decrease in elastic parameters (bulk modulus (422624.04 Pa), shear modulus (25499667.58 N/m2), poisson’s ratio, Vp (3760.87 m/s), density (2.428 kg/m3)) as compared to line 905-QZN-04 on which the Qazian X-01 was drilled. The volumetric estimation of Sakesar Limestone for reservoir area calculation has also been done. en_US
