| dc.description.abstract | The aim of the present study is to understand the subsurface geology and hydrocarbon potential of the Gupchani area using seismic and well data. Seismic interpretation was performed on four seismic lines. In total, five different horizons were marked named as Chiltan Limestone (Jurassic), Lower Goru Formation (Cretaceous), Parh Limestone (Cretaceous), Ranikot Formation (Paleocene) and Kirthar Formation (Eocene). The normal faults are present in the study area which represent the extensional regime. Reflectors deposition trend is in the southeast direction providing a good sequence of rocks. Petrophysical analysis was performed on well logs of Miran-01 well. Four hydrocarbon bearing zones were identified in the Lower Goru Formation based on various log trends. Various petrophysical parameters including volume of shale, porosities, and hydrocarbon saturation were computed to observe the properties of the reservoir. The thickness of all the hydrocarbon bearing zones are 24 m, 13m, 17m, and 57m with their respective computed volume of shale is 43%, 53%, 52% and 54%. And the calculated effective porosities and hydrocarbon saturations of all the respective zones are 12%, 5%, 5%, 5% and 70%, 45%,55%,50% respectively. | en_US |
