| dc.description.abstract | The objective of the research is to carry out an Electrical resistivity survey in sector G14/2 Islamabad for hydrogeological studies and calculation of Dar Zarrouk parameters to find out the aquifer protection capacity and give a probable well location. The methodology adopted is Vertical Electrical Sounding using Schlumberger configuration. Based on the results, it is concluded that the potential groundwater zone in the study area exists at depth >35 m. The results of Dar Zarrouk parameters provide a fair idea about the sub-surface. VES-1, VES-7 and VES-8 have high longitudinal conductance values which makes them of highest priority in terms of groundwater. Based on the results of Transverse resistance, VES-2 is in saline, VES-10 in brackish while VES-1, VES-7, VES-8 and VES-9 are in fresh water category. The aquifer protection capacity of the study area is excellent. From the values of co-efficient of anisotropy, it is concluded that there is homogenous isotropic media in the subsurface of VES-9 and VES-10. While VES-1, VES-2, VES-5, VES-6, VES-7 and VES-8 shows the presence of homogenous anisotropic media in the subsurface. Combining these results, a probable well location can be at VES-1, VES-7 and VES-8. | en_US |
