dc.description.abstract Roads are one of the important means of transportation and are very important in terms of movement, economy and other aspects of life. The life and performance of a road depends on the construction materials which formed it. The purpose of this research work is to investigate the quality and study the construction materials being used at Fazaia housing scheme road network, Tarnol Islamabad. The sampling near the surface was done by using the hand auger. The tests i.e. sieve analysis of soil (AASHTO T27 & T11), Atterberg limits (AASHTO T89 & T 90), moisture content determination (by oven and speedy method), moisture density relationship (AASHTO T180 & T90) and field density (AASHTO T-191) tests were carried out to study and investigate the properties of soil. For analysis and investigation of the aggregate properties different tests were carried out i.e., sieve analysis of aggregates (AASHTO T27 & T11), Los Angeles and abrasion test (AASHTO T-96-94), specific gravity and water absorption test (AASHTO T84& T85) and soundness test (AASHTO T-104). Finally the cylindrical compressive strength test (ASTM C39/C39M) and slump test (ASTM C-143) or (AASHTO T-119) were carried out to evaluate concrete pavement of road. The conclusion and recommendations are established by comparing the test results of sub-grade, sub-base, base-course and rigid pavement with international, The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and local, National Highway Authority (NHA) standards. en_US
