dc.description.abstract The foremost objective of the research is to delineate the hydrocarbon potential of Miano-04 and Miano-05, located in the Southern Indus Basin. The study area lies in the Khairpur district, Sindh province. To achieve this objective, the well log data for both the wells i-e Miano-04 and Miano-05 was acquired from LMKR with the permission of DGPC. For each well, the following logs were collected; gamma ray log, SP log, resistivity logs, density log, neutron log and sonic log. Using these logs, the following Petro physical parameters were calculated; volume of shale, volume of sand, total porosity, effective porosity, saturation of water and hydrocarbon. The data has been analyzed and interpreted quantitatively to assess the hydrocarbon potential of each well. The average volume of shale for both the wells was 23.59% and 14.68% respectively. The average total porosity for both the wells is 25.89% and 20.13% respectively. The effective porosity for Miano-04 was calculated using the sonic log and its average value is 9.3% and the effective porosity for Miano-05 was calculated using the neutron-density having average value of 17.24%. Miano-04 has average water saturation 66.98% and the hydrocarbon saturation for the well is 33.01%, proving Miano-04 do not have a potential hydrocarbon bearing zone, whereas Miano-05 has average water saturation of 33.02% and average hydrocarbon saturation of 66.97%, proving it as a good reservoir. en_US
